ECUADOR

On 10 July, two earthquakes occurred in Muisne, province of Esmeraldas, one of the most affected areas by the earthquake on 16 April. The earthquakes had magnitudes of 5.9 and 6.6 according to the National Polytechnic Geophysical Institute. Classes were suspended for Monday 11 July in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabi. Power outages were reported in Esmeraldas but have already been restored. Infrastructure damage is still being assessed. As a result of the 16 April earthquake, 30,000 people remain in shelters and an international appeal for $US 72.4 million is still seeking funds.

GUATEMALA

Heavy rains cause damage in four departments affecting 900 people. Heavy rains and strong winds damaged at least 160 houses in the departments of Suchitepequez, Alta Verapaz, Izabal and Escuintla. Agencia Guatemalteca de Noticias.

NICARAGUA
